Hard Chroming Thickness on Hydraulic Cylinder Push Rod

All you hard chromers and hydraulic cylinder manufacturers out there

What is the standard or recommended thickness of hard chroming on say a push rod shaft of finished diameter 75mm,and length 900mm

What are the criteria for choosing that thickness.

I am talking of Material EN 19 condition T, which is induction hardened before hard chroming

I don't know. Ask one of these guys from Finishing.com:

some shops that offer hard chrome plating.

I had used 15 micron thickness for plating. To ensure the correct adherence and non inclusion of impurities and adequate cleaning grind it by 5 microns. These allowances are to be considered while initial machining.Use of self wearing green wheels for grinding is recommended.

Standard manufacturer recomends 30 to 50 micron Cr plating for standard cylinders. It depends on the environment conditions.
