What is the normality of 20% H2SO4 with a specific gravity of 1.84?

  • Do your own homework. CR4 is not a homework cheat site. While some here might relish the opportunity to sharpen up old rusty skills by working the homework problem, consider this and consider it well. If you cheat on your homework by using someone else's answers, you are only cheating yourself, because the purpose of any homework or other college assignments is to help you learn - by practice, repetition, and self-discovery. I am not sure you have enough information to solve without making a number of assumptions.

Haven't we already done this (homework?) question on CR4 before, it looks vaguely familiar.

Here's some hints for you:

The 'Normality' of a solution is the 'Molarity' multiplied by the number of equivalents per mole.

Sulfuric Acid molecular weight — 98.08

You've got enough information to solve for molarity. I think you need to know if your acid is being titrated or not to go from there, but I could be mistaken on that.

Apart from agreeing with lynlynch, there's something wrong there. SG of 20% w/w H2SO4 is nowhere near 1.84. That's the SG at 96 - 98%.

Also you don't need SG and % H2SO4, if you have one, you can look up the other.

Cheers.........Codey

Totally off topic!

I've been trying to find normality for years, my doctors say that if I keep on taking the medication it may return at some point. So far reality and normality seem a long way off.
