120 kw DC Flying Share Motor

11/01/2010 2:01 PM

I am in problem with a 120 kw dc flying share motor(tmt roling mill), make parker. Problem is when rod is pass at mill speed 14 mps , it have to cut 60 meter, in encoder mode . But when it cut the leangth is not equal . We are checked encoder , motor ,plc programe all are ok. Now what i have to do?

First thing is to ensure the "home" datum (if it has one) is stable for the shear. If it doesn't then look for slip in the bar feed or shear drive mechanism.

A few questions first

do the lengths get (wrongly) longer after each cut?

does the encoder sets to '0' every cut or does it run in incremental mode?

Is the encoder fully digital (Resolver/Follower) or simply analog/digital conversion?

Is the encoder directly connected to the Mill speed (14 MPS) or does it measure separate with it's own tachogenerator?

Actualy 120 kw motor sence with a hmd (heat seance). And we taking the encoder palses from a finishing dc motor 250 kw . I explane you. Finising motor run into 710 rpm ,then HMD . Then flying share motor 120 kw. Ok. 250 kw motor encoder continiously giving palce throug a 24 v relay board to 120 kw drive . Now when hot metal coming through 250 kw motor mount with roll. And then hmd sence then hmd give signaj to the 120 kw drive. And then 250 kw encoder palce count stard and plc give comand to cut. Ok but the leangth is not equaly when it cuting.

How can I ever make sense of this all ?

A crop shear ( not a flying share 120 KW)

An HMD is not a heat seance, it's a Hot Metal Detector

The Encoder Pulse (not pAlse ) from a roller on the outcoming drive 250 Kw

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So from drive 250KW comes a continues encoder pulse ---> (24v relay on Crop Shear)

<Loop>

HMD detects Hot metal -----> signal to 24v Relay ---> PLC

PLC starts counting encoder Pulse

PLC counts until value , signal (cut)---> Crop shear

Crop Shear ( Cut)

<End loop>

So now the problem

the lengths vary , causes

Primary I'd say, check/callibrate the HMD for the correct temperature (we had this a few times)

second add an extra test_counter in the encoder pulsing and check the encoder Inputcard on the PLC.

Replace the 24 v relay (old ? dirty contacts ?)

Success L8rz.. TL.
