The commercialization of space took one major step today. Sir Richard Branson, owner of the Virgin group, and Burt Rutan of SpaceShipOne fame, are joining forces to form The Spaceship Company. The Spaceship Company will manufacture launch aircraft, spacecraft and support equipment for spaceliner operators. Said Will Whitehorn, President of Virgin Galactic "We would like to be in development and in experimental test flying by the end of 2007. And we would like to be operating commercially by the end of 2008".
