That will depend on where you are, but generally speaking high temperature incineration is regarded as effective in destroying any pathogens that may be present.

Personally, I'd much prefer to feed them to people I dislike.

It depends on what The waste is, there are many answers to your question S0, S1, S2, S3? Is there blood involved, possible pathogens, chemicals? Incineration can be used, but not with everything (prions, dangerous chemicals). I work in an S1 lab, we are required to autoclave (high pressure and temperature) all of our materials before we throw them out. Rule are strict, attend a class because improper material disposal is something you can loss you job for or even go to jail for.
