Modulus of Subgrade

11/25/2010 12:19 AM

Does anyone have a good reference for determining the Modulus of Subgrade Reaction for different types of rock? I need typical values for Ks (modulus of subgrade) for different types and qualities of rock to calculate deflection.

Specially : Ks for sandstone??

Check out any number of textbooks written by Joesph E. Bowles, Solomon and Terzaghi.......or do a Goggle Search, especially the "Terzaghi Soil Bearing Pressure"

Do a search in the Civil Engineering section of CR4.

Also, take a look at "Civil Engineering Handbook" by Merritt (Editor).

The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has several Engineering Manuals (EM) regarding soils engineering, some of which have tabulated Modulus of Subgrade Reaction for various soils, and rocks and minerals. Ditto with the Federal Highway Administration (FWHA). All can be found online.

Good luck!
