Removal Of a Metal Sample From Operating Equipment

12/02/2010 7:49 AM

I work for a refinery, we have a scope sample machine which can only be operated to a max of 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit), but our production guys ask me to find out if we can remove a sample of plus minus 3mm (0.12 inch) while the plant is still operating. The pipe runs at a temperature of 450 degrees Celsius (842 degrees Fahrenheit), pressure of 4500 kilopascal (653 PSi). Is there a company our a piece of equipment I can use to remove the sample?

Do I understand you correctly.

You have a analistical machine that is taking samples from an operation involving high temperatures and pressures. But your measurement equipment is at a temperature and pressure that has been greatly reduced to enable sampling.

So why do you not put a bypass on this sampling point with a couple of shutoff valves and take the sample from this bypass.

The equipment that we do have it is not possible to do sampling at the pressure or temp, we can not by pass the system it must stay operational. I want a new piece of equipment which can handle above mentioned
