Shuttle Valve in Case 570lxt

12/18/2010 1:38 AM

Hello, I have a Case 570LXT skip loader that will not go into forward or reverse. I have checked the wiring in the Neutral Safety Switch and it is sound. I have also checked the fuses and relays and they are all sound. I have had problems with the shuttle valve in the past, but had a tractor mechanic work on it. Right now budgets are tight so I need to try and get it going myself. Where exactly is the shuttle valve located?

I'm no Case nor any other kind of expert, but have had similar problems with similar equip. One of the causes was ; either the inching pedal or the brake pedal was not coming all the way up to the released position. On some equipment the brake /inching pedals disengage the transmission. The pedals have a tendency to stick due to dirt accumulation and corrosion. Make sure they return all the way up and try to keep the pivots lubricated and clear. LOL.

All of the switches, relays, and fuses have been checked, although I am sure something has been overlooked! For now, it just needs to move. I believe I have located the shuttle valve assembly. There seems to be 3 valves, 2 large, 1 small. The large valves have black/red wires each, and the small has white/black wires going to it. The directional switch has blue and white wires, so I am assuming the small valve is a neutral, and the two large valves are forward/reverse. I may artificially induce voltage to see if the tractor moves.

Hereto, you can check by three steps,

1) Munaul shift the directional valve without any solenoild energized, if the machine could do normal action, then, the electrical problem should be considered.

2) Inspect the relief valve, confirm the orifice of the pilot line not plugged. Since the relief valve with normal function could lead to the normal system pressure rising, 60% multifunction of hydraulic system could charge upon the failure relief valve(whole system can not get high pressure)

3) If there is a small pipe connect between the directional valve and pump, except for main suction and delivery pipe of the pump. The whole hydraulic system could be called as "Load sensing" flow control, this small pipe is the signal pipe, disconnect this pipe and purge the oil two a vessel, to insure the hydraulic signal line is not plugged.

Good luck

Thank you for these steps, but I am behind that! The directional switch is entirely electrical, it has no linkages to the transmission at all. I am not even sure where the return orifice is!

Hello Tundrawolf,

There is a Lot of knowlege on this board however I can't help but recommend

www.heavyequipmentforums.com enough.

Get on over there and you'll find folks running the same equipment, have worked on the same equipment and can get you pointed in the right direction.

One thing I can help with..do you have a service manual?

Skies.

Jay.

All of the attachments work, it simply will not move forward or reverse. I will register on that forum and ask them. I am about an hour away from knowing if I am right about the red/black/white wires and the valve body on the transmission. First I will try disconnecting the black/white harness to see if it is a safety solenoid, ad then after that artificially introducing ground and +12 to one of the other looms to see if it will move.

I am sorry, I forgot to add, no I do not have a manual of any kind for this loader!
