Rotor Earth Fault in Agenerator

please explain me about causes of rotor earth fault in a generator and the preventive measures

As to preventative measures, don't start the generator, you'll never get a fault.

Ask yourself: SELF! Should my rotor ever leak to earth or should it always be earthed? Then decide what keeps it that way and how you can avoid the unwanted.

It sounds as though a winding is damaged. Did it get battered or did the generator run into overload? If either of these, then the preventative measure is don't do it again.

Megger the windings to earth and see what happens. At least one will know that there is or is not a problem to be addressed.
