Request about the connection of the PMDC motor

03/26/2007 4:22 PM

Hi All,

May I know the connection of the PMDC motor. As I need that to work with my wind turbine. Is anyone know the connection or the schematic diagram which I can refer to. Hope to hear from you asap...!

Cheers,

Cheng

A PM motor should only have two leads, positive and negative. Normally, you supply a voltage source to get rotation, cw or ccw depending upon polarity and variable speed depending upon the voltage supplied.

You say you're using on a wind turbine? Are you utilizing the motor as a generator? If so, you will need to regulate the output in some way. If you apply too much load to the motor/generator, it will overheat and burn out.

A solid state voltage regulator on the output should maintain the load constant through different RPM ranges and also maximize the longevety of your motor/generator.

Experimentation with close monitoring of the current and voltage should provide a solution.

Luck!
