Male fastener (st. stl.) running in nickel-silver threaded bush

01/06/2011 9:25 AM

Hi all

I'm spec-ing materials here for a threaded device that will be mated and unmated numerous times. Our industry likes stainless fasteners so I'm keen to use that material, but I don't want the potential galling probs that come with them. I'd also like to avoid coatings and second ops of that nature.

Does anyone out there have good/bad/ugly experiences of a stainless bolt (essentially) running in a nickel-silver nut? A nickel-silver seems to have good corrosion resistance in the as-machined state so again I'm hoping to win by not having to plate the nut/bush.

Thanks all round for any ideas
