SIMULINK is a model based design tool,it will help you simulate the behaviour of a motor (torque ,current ...etc) in all posssible cases and wiring.

Simulink helps you visualize what you can define in mathematical form. If you don't know your motor theory, you will not get much out of a simulator.

If what you intend to do is simple simulation, there are "pre-solved" applications that will give better results with less chances of mistakes. Writing your own model is difficult and time consuming. It is only worth it if you intend to make a career out of it or if you really enjoy it.

Simulink is a general tool more likely to be useful in the system design than in motor design. There are magnetic fields visualisation softwares that are optimized for motor design.
