Please can you write more about your question. Your English is not too bad but I can't understand your question. If you discuss it more we may be able to work out how to reply.

Not sure of your application, but Wikipedia comes to the rescue again...

you can think spherical coordinates as a polar coordinates in a plane coordinates system. but the sphercal coordinates is in 3D space system. so it has more than two parameters. it has three parameters. two angles and one polar axes. in some situtation it can describe object position in space conviniently, especially for spherial form. its in 3D space, if you take account of nD space, I thk, you might use n-1 angles and one polar axes.

D: dimesion.

only guess.

Co-ordinates can be expressed as either 'Polar' or 'Cartesian' .

The best method will depend on your what you are trying to calculate. I find Cartesian easier to work with. In 3D a point is expressed as 'x,y,z' or 'xi' . If you are considering 3d Stress for example , you will need to understand the δij expansion and Cauchy formula etc.

It seems there is a wrong with the last words. in nD space, it would be n base, (x0,x1,...xn); n angles can be a0, a1,...an; and xi = rho*cos(ai);

there are relationsiop: rho = squt (x0^2+x1^2+...+xn^2); pls check. if there would be still wrong, pls point out.

thus the sphere can be expressed as

rho = constant. if we use vector, it can be

|R1 - R0| = rho = Contant

I will find a diagram cnpower . We may be using slightly different terms here , but I think we are saying the same thing . I will scan a picture in next time I am on-line.

kris, You are right in your description. I understand. its me made a mistake at the last sentence.

I check up and correct it in my thread $5. I thik that will be right or clear.

youi know in #4 last words I said trhere will be n-1 angles. its wrong.

in the last thread. I mean except spherial coordiantes, there is cylinder coordinates in use. I hope they can understaand. i guess the first post may be a fresh man in a college.

I have not found the diagram I had in mind yet .

Another useful method to calculate intersection of planes etc is hemispherical projection . This is a drawn technique , useful for visualizing information and quickly finding approximate solutions . It is used in (eg) tunnel design and crystallography.
