Fuel Consumption

01/24/2011 6:28 AM

Can someone lead me to the calculations that determine the fuel consumption (liters per hour) of an engine given the displacement?

Too many variables involved to arrive at a standard answer. Load, RPMs, etc.

For a particular engine, measure litres of fuel put in tank, run engine normally until fuel runs out, keeping track of minutes run from start to empty..........this will give you a very accurate measurement of time run per litre.

This may help. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brake_specific_fuel_consumption
