Joystick (Opto Encoder Type)

Hello,

We are using opto encoder joystick (Make:Spohn + Burkhardt, Type: ORG8G1) with Stpe 7 Siemens PLC.

I want to know how can i check this joystick wheather it is OK or not? i am facing the problem with this joystick now. Do we have any procedure to ckeck this? i would like to know also how this opto encoder joystick works?
