It's OK, but I didn't see a way to factor in phases and power factor.

A = kW/ (V x pf x eff x 1.732)

If load is a motor, assume .8 PF and eff. = .90

If load is purely resistive, pf = 1.0, eff. = 1.0

Mixed loads are a crap shoot.

8000kw/400 x (square root 3) = 11.54 Amps

Hi, All

Every EE had their own way of equation, i think it should standardize to avoid confusion.

my own calculation

3phase Amp= Kw x 1.8 / ( V x pf )

1phase Amp= kw x 1.8 / V

current = power / vtg. A = 8000 / 400 A = 20A or Amps = HP X 1.3 where 1 HP = 746Watts 8000Watt = 10.72 HP hence Amps = HP X 1.3 = 10.72 X 1.3 Amps = 13.941Amps.
