Hi all this is my first question here, sorry the title may be a little confusing
We have purchased a 3.3KV panel for a project. Its a single incomer and a single outgoing feeder. The thing is that the client requires Schneider parts itself and the Schneider vendor could only provide Mod bus communication with the panel. So in order to connect to a system that uses profibus we used a mod bus to profibus converter.
Now the problem is we need to test the panel to see if it works. The communication part shall be checked by our instrumentation department. They will check if communication happens properly.
We have placed a couple of relays on the panel with is used for protection and other functions. The relays are pretty expensive with lots of functions. We wanted to see if the signals for the same can be received while we test.
When we tested our normal 525V intelligent panel, the PLC person came up and installed the Siemens software to test the functions of the intelligent module and we could see the proper functioning, This was easy
In this case the Schneider panel uses mod bus so the panel software should use mod bus communication as well, but since we need to test the signals through profibus we are in a fix and don't know how to do it. The vendor doesn't seem to be too fluent on his own product and cannot give us an answer.
Basically we need to test the relay through profibus. All the protection functions and other extra's should be testable through profibus. The panels primary mode of communication is mod bus. We have used a converter to convert the same to profibus (the converter is provided by a 3rd party selected by the Schneider vendor). How can we do this since testing is normally done through a hardware like a laptop or a PC.
Thanking You
