MATHEMATICS

02/13/2011 10:20 AM

It is believed that the data given in the table represents the relationship y=(1+2x)^b. Two of the readings are incorrect. Identify them and fing the values of 'a' and 'b'.

X 1 2 3 4 5 6
y 2.08 1.38 1.11 0.86 0.71 0.64

Please, help me find the solution to this mathematical problem!!

First this looks like a homework problem. CR4 is not a cheat site.

Second there is no "a" in any equation.

Third, and the only help we should give you so you can do your own homework, you have six readings and an equation with the two variables "Y" and "X", an unknown constant "b" with a defined relationship in the equation and presumably an unknown constant "a" that you inadvertently replaced for the number two. Substituting the X and Y values into the equation gives you six equations with "a" and "b" in them. Depending on your level of mathematical knowledge and the technique your teacher wants you to use will determine if this is a 5 minute problem to solve or a three hour problem.

Now go to work and learn.

GA from me.

I keep getting stick on another engineering site because I won't answer H/Work questions. You and I had to learn from books, the modern student has the advantage of the Internet and yet they still want somebody else to do the donkeywork.

I believe that is an homework. So, I will not answer it but give you a clue, all you have to do is substitute the values on the table to the equation one by one. Then you can get new equation (let say equation A,B,C,D and E), and you can interpolate the equations.

Note :

1. I can't find where is 'a'

2. Do your home work alone
