Black Aluminum

02/17/2011 5:46 PM

Does anyone have any thoughts about the possibility creating a pigmented aluminum, which the color would be throughout the raw material. The color change would need to take place in the transformation from molten to solid.

Or, is that to far of a stretch?

Please list black pigment substances to be considered that will be miscible and not break down at the solidus temperature.

Also please advise necessary mechanical properties of this new material, so we can attempt to determine how te new ingredient might affect...

I don't think you can stretch aluminum that far.

Why not just dye the bauxite black?
