MPLAB PROGRAMMER

03/03/2011 11:54 AM

QUESTION: HOW WOULD ONE VALIDATE A PROGRAMMER OR BURN DEVICE USED IN A MANUFACTURING ENVIRONMENT? CHIPS ARE BURNED IN THEN USED IN EQUIPMENT FOR MEDICAL DEVICES. I AM NOT IN THE PROGRAMMING FIELD BUT HAVE THE DUTY IF DEVELOPING A PROCEDURE FOR THIS OPERATION.

You're going to have to be more specific about your application, AND TURN OFF CAPS LOCK.

Ok. We have the programmers / burn in banks. The EPROMS are copied successfully and used in equipment. The equipment verifies version x.x .

Question: How could this procedure ( program transfer) be validated?

Either use a "programme export" facility built into the processor of your equipment or include such a facility in the firmware of your equipment or (better) have a facility which can read any memory location in your equipment and any register of its processor for diagnostic purposes in the factory and field. If this is medical, I guess you must have a positive way of checking the programme actually is as it should be.
