Xylar / Xylan coating

04/04/2007 12:49 PM

Has any body have experience using these type of coating? Is it good? what is the pro's and con's?

I have a project that require to use these type of coating on all carbon steel bolts and nuts, was wondering why it is required..? heard that extreme care must be taken or the coating will just crack when tightening...

I've used Xylan coated bolts in the past for corrosion resistance & the seemed pretty tough. We had to reduce the tightening torque by about 10% as I remember to compensate for the loss of friction in the thread.
