Wind Pressure Load in Ulianovsk

03/07/2011 6:21 AM

Hello, I'm looking for wind pressure load in Ulianovsk ( Ульяновск ) in order to design a building facade. I've found that Ulianovsk is in Zone II in map no.3 ( http://www.snip.com/index.php?Page=loads ) What does it mean? Thank you.

The map does not give the wind speeds. You will need to find out what they are for that zone. Below is explanation of how to convert wind speed to force. The facade you are designing will need to with stand the force of the wind. You will also have to take into consideration the elevation. The higher up the greater the winds. Also there is some consideration on location on the building. Forces are greater at the corners then they are in the middle.

Not sure about Russian weather forecasting, but here in the USA we have NOAA. If they have a similar organization they will have the weather with winds, precipitation, etc, for the area as well. You will need to take into account amount of moisture, for the type of loading as well to building as well. Water weighs more then snow when pushed by 50 MPH winds.

Good Luck

Wind pressure for II wind area in Russia is 300Pa. But you mast to know that wind load with Russian norm is not equal wind load with Eurocode and US norm. Shell you do solve your constraction with all Russian norm or all with Eurocode1?
