Problem With Dual Counterbalance Valve

03/13/2011 12:28 PM

Good day Sir,

I got problem with dual counterbalance valve . My dual counterbalance valve comprise 2 relief valves. The valve is mounted direct on motor of the winch, and its position is between the motor and the tandem directional valve. there is no problem as the load is light. As the load is heavy I must tighten one of the screw for adjusting pressure of system, and the winch can raise up the load, but as lowering the load, the winch can not operate smoothly. And when Ioosen the screw, the winch can lower heavy load smoothly but it cannot raise up the heavy load.

So, please guide me to adjust two of relief valve for operating smoothly of the winch both of heavy and light load . Does I use the tandem directional valve effect the un-smoothly operating of the winch? I should replace type of open directional valve for tandem type ?

Thanks you very much

Hi,

I need more information before I can respond. The normal system for a winch is a dual counterbalnce mounted directly on the winch motor. Do you have any model codes, part numbers, manufacturers names? The unit only operates in one direction and there would be a built in check valve such that winding the winch line in would by pass the counterbalance valves. the valves are set at two differing pressure levels (normally a fixed ratio with only one adjustment). I take it this system has been working for some time and is now malfunctioning.

Info please and i will try and help.

PS a circuit diagram would be very helpful

Hello,

when you turn the screw you make higher pilot pressure for the next line.i think you should choose a conuterbalance valve with lower cracking pressure.

best
