03/18/2011 9:02 PM

Hello everybody.... I most reach 2,100 PSI resistency mixing asphalt pavement (4" asphalt plus 8" base course) adding cement or whatever; I know that adding 18% of cement could be reach, but is prohitib expensive... There is any other way to get it ? This new mix will be use as a pavement layer (course), meaning that is very important the relation betwen water-soil... I appreciate for advance

I have heard that adding reclaimed glass (Crushed) will strengthen and also lengthen the life (dissipates heat) of Asphalt. Glasphalt, I believe, was a trade name--Don't know if it still in development or if it is being used. Some one else will probably know a lot more--

Thanks C-Mac... Reclaimed glass.... interesting.... I am affraid could not be tottaly usefull because could be a lot of dangerous and the glass not glu it with asphalt, with the pass of time, could "fly" rigth after the pass of neumatics.

Now I just read that the technology named is "Lean-Mix Concrete"... I am still searching to resolve my situation

Thanks again

If you Google Glasphalt, you will find many discussions and technical papers of the process. It is good for some applications, and not as good for others. I do not believe it will leave the matrix, and become a hazard to tires or others. You must dial in your specific needs, and go from there. Hope it is of some help!
