Sourcing Small Air Compressors

03/21/2011 3:00 PM

I am interested in sourcing small air compressors for a potentially reoccurring project. They will be used to supervise the integrity of an empty piping network by maintaining a predetermined pressure and monitored via pressure switch. The compressor requirements are: oil less, direct drive, 2 cfm @ 25 psi, 120 vac @60Hz. My challenge is that we would like to purchase only 20 units per order and still have consistency from order to order. Our budget is $150 USD per unit and we would prefer USA made or dealing with a US distributor of a stable, non-US brand. If anyone can steer us to a manufacturer, supplier or distributor, we would be very grateful.

Try an internet search for "maxus-x" oilless compressor range. They are about the cheapest oilless compressor I have found and they have a range of sizes and tank capacities that should fit your needs within your budget.

I'm curious as to why you need oil less compressors? Is it a process requirement (for that empty piping network?), or are you looking for less maintenance effort and cost.

If so, I wonder what the longevity is on an oil less compressor vs. an "oiled" compressor? (I'm just curious--I have no idea...)

We can't always predict the orientation of the installed units so oil less is the only way for us to go. These units will be used in temporary installation so longevity is secondary.
