Jeep 2.5L to 4.0L Engine Swap

03/28/2011 4:21 PM

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me where I can get detailed information as to what would be required to install a 4.0L 6Cly into my 91 Jeep Wrangler? I have a downer 89 Jeep Cherokee with the 4.0. I have questions about motor mounts, transmission and x-fer case options, etc.

Also, someone mentioned that I would have to use the downer vehicle's computer to go along with the engine swap. Is that true? If I don't have that computer, what would I be required to do?

I know there are a lot of things to consider. That's mainly why I'm asking whether anyone knows of something published that is specific to this scenairo.

Thaks all!

GA from me,

There are plenty of Jeep forums about, I dare say there are quite a few people who have done this.

Try these too

http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums/

http://www.wranglerforum.com/

I suspect this will be something where a "donor" car will be very handy...

Thanks tobugrynbak.

Yeah, CR4 is a great place, but when it gets into nitty gritty specifics on automotive questions, there are a lot more specific forums out there with people that have done the actual work.
