Is there any standard while selecting carbon steel , alloy steel or stainless steel materials depend upon temp. or pressure in thermal applications?

Maybe you can find some criterions in standards or handbooks. But, which kind of material you select depends on a lot of factors, such as ambient temperature, operating time, cooling medium and method, etc. At last, you have to select it yourself through experience and caculation.

Material and processing cost usually play a big part too - not covered by the standards though.
