Only in Fargo

04/20/2011 1:30 PM

Only in Fargo, North Dakota, USA:

This artwork (yes, this passes as art in Fargo) is displayed at the annual North Dakota Travel Conference, held this week in Fargo. This is a replica of the infamous wood chipper from the 1996 movie "Fargo". You can't say we don't have a sense of humor!

In other news:

The voting at The Weather Channel is over. Fargo North Dakota has, by popular vote, the worst weather in the United States. I would not disagree. Current temp is 36oF (12:20 P.M. CDT), and gasoline is $3.80 USD per US gallon (self-serve 87 octane, 10% ethanol)

My wife was traveling to Fargo regularly at the time this movie came out. I thought it was dumb the first time I saw it, but I've watched it dozens of times since and like it.

It's 87°F here right now.

The image was in the paper today. It just struck me as humorous that many people associate the iconic woodchipper with Fargo.

This is a pretty nice place to live... eclectic is an understatement. How many cities have their own curling auditorium, a semi-pro baseball club, a viking ship, a semi-pro hockey team, a domed stadium hosting fourteen varsity sports played at the 5 colleges and university and a variety of entertainment events, five golf courses... there is just a lot of stuff going on here in Fargo.

I guess there are a lot of places that have those things, but now we have a guy in a woodchipper!

870F. Whew, how do you stand it? At least it is a dry heat!
