Low Voltage Output from the Generator

05/03/2011 1:12 AM

Hi

Could any one help, we have a generator which produce a low voltage of 68V instead of 380V, we tried to change AVR but still the problem persist. Waiting to hear from you.

1.Check the exciter field winding healthiness.

2. Open the inspection cover and check the healthiness of the rectifiers fitted on the exciter rotor.

3. Check the Generator field winding.

4. Where did you measure the voltage? Try to measure from the generator main terminals. There can be problem in the measuring circuit... like blown PT fuses.

5. Is it a new generator or was it working ok previously ?

Thanks for your comments

1. The exciter field windings reads infinity resistance (open circuit)

2. We compared with another generator of the same type which reads 0.8ohm and 0.5ohms (continuity).

3. This shows that the field winding is not health.
