Touch Screen Panel PC's

06/10/2011 12:29 PM

Anyone have any experience with any fairly economical priced panel mount industrial touch screen pc's that are fairly light? Less then 3 lbs preferably. I've been finding so many I just wanted to see if anyone had any actual hands on experience with certain brands/types and could recommended one.

Thanks guys

I don't have much of an idea what you're trying to accomplish but I've had lots of luck with these.

Not even scratching the surface of enough information. You say the weight, but how large of a screen? Do you want an entire PC, or an optimized HMI to run a lean program of some sort? Is it going to communicate to external devices or stand alone?

Advantech, made is Asia, typical Asian/English issues with documentation, a PC is a PC. They're custom made and on occasion don't come through with the option ordered and you have to go through the hassle of making it right.

When I was working in the bakery we were replacing the Allen-Bradley panels with panels from Automation Direct.

Ok, Well to be a little more specific this doesn't need to be anything too fancy. It will only require to run a windows operating system be it embeded or xp, doesn't matter as long as it can run Java Applets. This computer is a basic HMI that will connect to a Java applet over ethernet to an IP which will give a display and control for an HMI on the front of a rack.

If you want to buy your own HMI by purchasing accessories yourself? All accessories can be purchased at VICPAS HMI Parts.
