PVElite 2011-WRC 107

06/14/2011 11:28 AM

Dear all,

I have modeled a hemispherical dish in PVELite 2011 and put a nozzle on top of it.

I have applied also the nozzle loads on it and performed the WRC 107 calculation.

after observing the results, i have found a deviation.
pvelite uses the grpah SR-2 for calculating the values Nx and many.

after ref to the hard copy of wrc 107 there is a difference between the 2 values of nx,ny,mx and my.
please Help.

I suspect nobody really understands your problem--I think you will have to explain more.

I assume this is not a satellite dish, and the nozzle is not a waveguide for electromagnetic waves ;-)

I think, at the very least, you'll have to explain what wrc 107 is.

PV Elite appears to be a pressure vessel analysis suite from Intergraph. WRC 107 appears to be a design calculation standard, but I can not determine the issuing authority or the normal application of this schema...

Yep, more information sure would be nice.

Have you verified whether you've indicated the right way of the forces (ends of arrows)?, when the way of the forces or moments have been introduced wrongly the results are not the right. The method of calculation was performed taking into account a defined way for the forces and moments, and for any calculations if you include a force or a moment with opposite way to the indicated in the sketch shown in the menu of PVElite then you has to introduce it with negative sign.

Why don't you contact PVElite / Intergraph with these types of questions especially if you think you found an error in their software ? I have received excellent support from them over the years.
