Noise Measurements for CANbus

06/17/2011 4:44 AM

Hello all,

Anyone knows how I can measure noise (in mV) of a CANbus signal? I need to know if there is anything commercial that could do this. I need it because I am measuring the noise added by a slip ring (rotating electrical connection) on a communication siganl. I am also interested in looking at the resistance noise (seen in mohm). I have seen both values from vendors (in catalogs) and I would like to measure them myself.

Of course, I know it can be done with an osciloscope, but I am looking for a device that can be coupled to a data logger to observe how the noise changes in different scenarios (chaging temperature and vibration for example).

I hope someone can help!

Thanks,

Freddy
