How to Calculate Vacuum Pressure Needed for Dust Collection Unit

06/24/2011 1:25 AM

Can anyone suggest how to calculate vacuum pressure (CFM or m^3/min)for a dust collection machine? I need to install a dust collection machine for our facility and it is going to be used in steel wire cutting machine and deburring polishing machines.

vacuum pressure (CFM or m^3/min)

It seems you want volume rate of exhaust, not vacuum pressure.

Define & specify your application and contact nearby suppliers of vacuum cleaners, they will guide you on this matter.

Even they are not very clear about our need. they are suggesting some costly specifications that really higher capacity for our need.

For your application requires collection of higher size dust like debris and metal chips. For this suction pipe shall be higher size, so vacuum pressure is lower & air delivery rate is higher compared to fine dust collectors. See from link below a range of vacuum pressure and air delivery and you can choose which suits to you.

one of our machine we are cutting a SS wire screen used in oil and gas. the metal powder size is about 10-50microns. In one another polishing machine we are polishing the outer dia of a long pipe which is L80 and 13Cr mtl, same time we are removing burrs in&out of pipe contributed from drilling throughout the pipe length. i came to know abt a vacuum cleaner Tiger-vac company.

check this URL http://www.tiger-vac.com/model.html?vacid=120

but the vacuum pressure is 4572mm H2O=44.84Kpa. input air volume is 76.5 m^3/hr

i dont know whether it is ok or not...

I have gone through the website of Tiger-vac. It is equipped with hepa filters (very fine) for clean room and pharmaceuticals applications. So, not at all suitable for your application. Go through the site I have suggested for suitable vacuum pressure and air volume delivery which matches your application.

You need not buy from India. That was only for your information about vacuum pressure required for your application, making it easier for you to decide what you really need. Now, based on this information you define your requirement and send enquiries to local suppliers. Probably you may get it.
