If they are "Marketing" terms they are broadly meaningless/synonymous.

1.Collaboration, Slang term for making sour milk, or how to cheat someone.

2.Tie-up Slang term for a traffic jam, or what you do to your girlfriend on week-ends.

3.Joint-venture Slang term for smoking pot before tying up your girlfriend, or collaboration.

Heah, it was a good prick phrase. appreciated!

Read this aloud to understand the impact of three 3 words in real marketing terms.

"Gulf Energy LLC Sultanate of Oman will Colloborate with GreatStar India to execute a Joint Venture Project in Indian Market and Foreign Direct Investment Tie Up is awaited".

Thanks

1.Collaboration: John, Paul, George and Ringo, writing songs

2.Tie-up: found on page 246 of the "Better Sex Guide"

3.Joint-venture: A group of Scouts lost in the forest without a map or compass

or if my answers are incorrect you may want to try a dictionary or study for an MBA!

They basically refer to surety of the money links and to an extent 'permanence/formality' of the involvements.

Collaboration is agreeing to 'not screw' the profit, or business opportunities, of the other - say like not undercutting fuel prices or singing a song together.

A joint venture usually means each party puts up a portion of funding, or skill-sets, into a third company, or entity, created for the purpose of the 'venture'. Then divides the profit /equity, at the end.

A tie up is a legal partnering, of some sort, between the participants. Such as fiscal, resource, service, or IP based, contracts.

But, of course, depending on your country and usage - I could be wrong.

The terms would be best understood if they were to be viewed in relation to one another.

COLLABORATION : To work jointly especially with one or a limited number of persons involving composition or research or a project to be jointly accredited. The persons would actually put in mental or physical 'labour', as in a working team.

JOINT VENTURE : Joint tenancy of an estate. [The persons need not necessarily work themselves but may have a pecuniary interest in the venture.] In the case of a "collaboration" the persons need to actually 'put in labour', physically or mentally whereas in a "joint venture" the persons may just put in capital and and others would labour; eg. venture capitalists.

TIE-UP : A linking association. It could be a symbiotic relationship towards mutual benefit, for ex., a marriage where the partners provide some benefit to each other.

The best way to understand these terms is to compare them with each other. Understand the term 'TIE-UP' first, then 'JOINT VENTURE' and finally 'COLLABORATION'

Ref. Websters and additions such as examples are mine.

GOOD LUCK

be nice.. a lot of people have said that already, but not quite a bluntly as you did... some many object to you use of the word "stupid"... and that might be regarded by the mediators as an attack on the OP...

We normally say.. "this is homework..do your own homework"..

It may well be or the OP is not a natural english speaker, who has difficulty in understanding English, so one has to look at the possibilities, of this being a comprehension question rather than that of just explaining the meaning of the words.

I know I made "light' of the answers but they are context with the question.

Also you must remember that the OP did post in "General Discussion".. and I don't remember any rules stopping this type of question being asked.

Yes, the OP could have picked up a dictionary or googled the words, but he didn't!

Collaboration = Meeting. Tie-Up = What you're stuck in after Collaboration. Joint Venture is Stress-Relief after Tie-Up
