There are many crane suppliers at GlobalSpec that can meet your criteria.

You may want to contact a company that specializes in over head cranes (see google search here).

Additional information is needed:

  • How much deflection of the load are you able to tolerate? This will help determine your beam cross section and moment of inertia.
  • Does the hoist and trolley need to be motorized to move along the length of the beam or is that to be manually positioned (i.e. position hoist and trolley, then lift load vs. position hoist and trolley, lift load, move load to new position)?
  • How high is the crane and what is the time requirement for the hoist to lift the load to the desired height? This will help determine motor size.

Take Doorman's advice.

No one here is going to help you design an overhead crane.

The liability considerations alone should be enough to make you see that.

Then there's your insurance company, if you have one.

Since we don't know where you are, there's no way to guess what municipal, state and national regulations you might violate in the process.

It's a long time in jail if your design goes wrong and hurts/kills someone!
