HP Bypass Station

07/15/2011 12:52 AM

Hi,

Regarding HP bypass station (Power plant), please let me know the following.

Q1.

How I can get the pressure drop of spray water at Bypass station?

Q2.

If the spray water is coming from BFP or CEP, do I have to add the pressure drop of spray water to TDH of BFP or CEP.

Q3.

What I have to consider in TDH design of CEP or BFP related to HP bypass station?

Thanks

TDH design of CEP or BFP related to HP

JBK,

These abbreviations may have different meanings for different people. It may be better to explain at least once.

Q1: Supposingly during start up

Depending on the amount of steam (max temp./ max.press) you need a quantaty of water, to get a good mixture (spray) you need spring loaded nozzles. The quantaty of water will not be same all the time. The presure drop of the spray water is the spring load of the nozzle according tyhe vacuum of condensor.

Q2: still supposing during start up

Your pumps should be able to feed both, of course you have to add things.

Q3:

what do you mean by TDH

A1: If you refer to the bypass station data sheet (or contact supplier), that would have the terminal pressure conditions for the spray water at maximum and minimum bypass flow. Note there will be a sparger to admit steam into the condenser.

A2: Yes, this presssure needs to be added to the TDH of BFP (boler feed pump)or CEP (condensate extraction pump).

A3: In the TDH (total developed head) design of CEP you need to consider the flow and pressure required at the bypass station, including the TCV pressure drop.
