Can you please tell how to do calculations to select genset size based on the load?(load calculations for DG set)

Can you also tell me how to select DG set for special loads like thyristor , welding application , ups with example and calculations?

Thanks in advance.

Search the net and download "Caterpillar Genset Application Guide" and/or "Cummins Genset Manual". Both are excellent guides on the subject.

The user of the programme should have some experience(diversity, load factors) to make his own judgement instead of simply making calculations according to downloads or manufacturer's literature. If the load is already energised record/measure parameters (W, Var,V,A,HZ,harmonics etc) by datalogger or analyzer.

It is not possible to give a general guide line .Load connected needs to be studied and arrive at at the size. However some manufacturers like cummins have given guide lines and sample calculations which can be taken from their web site or by google search
