Digital Electronics and VLSI Design

04/19/2007 2:16 PM

Q-1 Can any one tell me, how many digital gates we implemented on a chip?

Q-2 How we can save our time and cost by producing the large yeild? and how LSI (large Scale integration) possible?

i want brief answers in which one can easily satisfy when describes.. because these questions were ask during interview by me.

A2Q-1 Can any one tell me, how many digital gates we implemented on a chip?

Usually 4 gates (AND, NAND, OR, NOR). Like 7400, 02, 03.

6 for Inversors like 7404 and buffers like 7407.

A2Q-2 How we can save our time and cost by producing the large yeild?

Improving process and reducing scrap is one way. There are some tools can help you to be close to 100% Yield like six sigma and lean manufatury philosofy.

A2Q-3 how LSI (large Scale integration) possible?

LSI is posible due to introduction of TTL and ECL technologies. Very Large Scale Integratios (VLSI) is posible with introductiion of BiCMOS technologies.

It is not a lot of information but it is an starting point for you :).

Have a nice day!
