Fault MVA

Sir,

What is the significance of a fault MVA. How does it effect systems stability.

We have 110kv substation with 1327 fault MVA on 110kv bus. A 16 mva with z=10.34%; transformer (110/33) is connected. A 33 kv substation connected 6.5 km away from our substation. Help me to find fault mva on 33 kv substation.dog (overall dia 14.4mm)conductor is used in 33 kv line.

Tedious calculations, but, I can give you the data.

According to me,

Fault level at Inlet of your 33kv sub station after 6.5 km from 110kv/33kv sub station will be

Ifault - 2.66 KA . Fault MVA = 152.

This data will be useful in setting the Protection relays in your in comer circuit breaker. If properly set, breaker will provide perfect protection to the line / system. Other wise, Breaker some times will not trip during faults.
