Brazing Tool

04/20/2007 10:58 AM

Is there anyone out there who knows of a supplier of a carbon tipped clamping tool which can be connected to an extra low voltage [e.g. say 5 volts] high current source which when the current flows though the carbon tips heats up the work [or joint] clamped between the carbon tips. When sufficiently hot, silver solder can be introduced to the joint to create a welded connection?

I don't know of a specific tool. There are though what is call carbon arc gouging tips.

They were used to cut metal with a arc welder before plama cutters came along

check out the local welding supply. The clamp can be made.

How about a spot welder. I looked into that to silver braze carbide tips on but I went for an induction machine that worked in better for our needs.
