Spring Type Electrical Connector

09/03/2011 8:09 AM

Hi all,

Does any one know blind mating type of connector....? I have an application where the connector is placed in back cover and PCB in front cover.

when i assemble front and back cover, the connectors should automatically make contact with the pads provided in the PCB.

As per my knowledge, Pogo pins used in such type applications are soldered on the pcb. But this is not allowed in my application!!!

I would like to know any connector in the form of terminal block having pogo pins so that i can fix the wire ends to terminal block using screws and on other side, pogo pins make contact with the pcb.

Please have a look at the picture.

Don't know of an existing product. If nothing is available, you could make them with PCB mtg screw terminals and pogo pins mounted on a small PCB:

Need moe info. You cannot use 'pogo' pins, because...? If it is a problem with high voltage, or critical alarms that simply cannot be set off unless it is the real event, then go with insulated pins like those used by Fluke for test leads. I think these are Euro-standard to prevent shock hazard, but seem to be short-circuit free if that is the concern.

I need to have a blind mating connector assembly for this application. So pogo pins with a pad on the pcb will achieve the objective.

There is not problem of high voltage as it is a low voltage device.
