I would imagine it would be classed as a fire risk so I doubt it would be allowed! Check out you local standards to be sure!

Carry out insulation resistance test on that piece of wood possibility is that the requisite insulation value is not being met.

If you must use wood as support material, impregnate dry piece of wood in electrical grade varnish for 24 hours and re-test for insulation resistance when dry.

Flammable material like; paper, cloth tape and wood are extensively used in areas like motor winding or transformer coil winding.

Codes like IEC provides Y, A, E, B, F, H,C, classification for materials, you need to study a book on electrical insulating materials.

Flammable materials like paper used in electrical equipment is NOT used as an insulation material however. And it has been rendered non flammable as well.

In cables made long back impregnated paper was used as an insulator but covered so that it won't come into contact with water/rain/moisture.

In some parts of the world wooden pin insulators have been used on OH lines.

That aside, I wouldn't recommend it.

No. If it catches on fire, your bus bar may short out.

No it's not allowed at any where in the world and none of any utility standards in the world defines the wooden busbas supports. It gets wetted, can absorb moisture and can catch the fire in case of short circuit. So stay away from this idea.

Well, to be fair, if ANYTHING gets wet inside of a bus bar compartment, the wet wood will end up being a minor side issue to the overall catastrophe...

Generally said, regardless either busbar is fitted inside any compartment with IP protection or not. :)
