VMC Machine Vibration Problem

10/09/2011 11:44 PM

Hi,

I am getting vibration problem in our Hartford VMC machine which has fanuc control 21i-MB. We have checked all wageg, belt, bearings, ball screw but could not get the cause of vibration. Called manufacturer service engineer, he checked and has doubt on Linear scale.

But I do not understand, if linear scale fails or having some problem, it might have given some alarms with vibration but we are not getting any alarm.

If anybody can help me I will be very thankful.

are you sure it's a vibration problem? it might be a noise from faulty motor, ect use a stethoscope to find the source of the vibration or noise.

Thanks for your reply,

Its a vibration we have checked all posibilities of wages, belts ,motors ,we checked the ball screw backlash, we have doubt on angular contact bearing but engineer from manufacturer is saying it is linear scale as well as mechanical problem.

One more thing when we try to run the machine on 100% feed rate than machine generates an alarm ,axis soft thermal and machine stops ,but if we run the machine in less feed like below 50 % than machine runs without intruption but we get finishing problem.

If the motors are DC check the brushes to see if they are stuck in the holders.

If they are AC motors, you may have a servo I/O card loose or going bad.

If none of the above then it may be mechanical friction (ways/guides)

Did you check the brake. May be hanging up or not releasing at all. At 100% travel the load it would place on the motor would give you that error.

My guess is you have a faulty encoder or bad cable/connection, causing the motor to hunt for its correct position. See if there is an open loop mode on your machine that will allow you to move the machine without the encoder feedback, (possibly with the handwheel). This will let you know if it's a motor or feedback problem. Most often it's the encoder.
