Ynd and YD Type Transformers

11/16/2011 10:48 PM

Can anybody help me to understand the different types of situations where Yd type of transformers are used instead of Ynd and doesn't Yd type has the problem of neutral voltage floating? Any why doesn't the voltage floating affect the system.

The only difference between YNd (and not Ynd as written by you) and Yd is that in YNd, the HV neutral is brought out and in Yd the HV neutral is not brought out. It all depends upon whether the HV of this transformer is connected to an earthed source or an unearthed source.
