Guide for submiting questions.

04/27/2007 9:50 PM

Am I the only person who is become disgusted with with the basic inanity of the questions being Posted?

Examples:

I want to make pure steam. How can I do this?

I need to bolt a piece of wood and a piece of plastic together. What can I use?

I want to build batteries. What do I need to do this?

I need to know what type of tubing I need to make a hydraulic pump?

I think we need to have a Guide on how to ask Questions for new Guests to use so they can ask questions that can be answered.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Yeah, we´ve all seen it and probably a good many share your view. Some posts are right down silly, however honest they might be. I missed the one about how to make pure steam. Was that one for real? I think that no post can be left without a reply. There will always be someone out there willing to respond.. I´d say that sarcastic replies to silly postings should be avoided and should be stated so in the guidelines. Are you proposing a writing comittee?

Boy do I feel stupid!

The FAQ is great.

BUT, I missed it when I first visited CR4 and I wonder if it might be placed differently so that visitors to the site have to read it before continuing into the site.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

How about following the simple rules of supply and demand?

- You see a stupid question, ignore it. Given time, people will be able to see which questions are answered and which are not.

- If someone answers a stupid question, it means that for them it's not stupid. Given time, people will be able to tell which member answers which questions.

I for one, like to answer "stupid" questions sometimes, that is, if I feel that the asking party is sincere, or just naive. They came here to ask, not knowing how to approach. Fine. No harm done.

Grace is acquired when given. It's not to say that I never ignore some questions. I do, when I feel it's not sincere, done in spite, or inflammatory in nature.

making absolutely pure steam may be challenging..

as far as that goes, simple questions can lead to other places for creative minded person, so its ok.. to let folks feel free to ask. ask a silly question, get complex answer? anyway, foolishness answers itself, with silence...

Come to think of it this making pure steam question is not so so silly after all. Let´s see... How many of us weekend warriors know about making pure steam, where pure means food grade steam? Just to fuel to debate a bit.
