Have you consulted the exhaustive amount of Cavalier data both here and on numerous Cavalier sites???

Odds are good that with a little work on your part you can save us all a lot of speculation.

Go forth and search.

Does it have a toothed rubber camshaft drive belt? If so it might be broken.

Perhaps the OP can describe how they determined that it has fuel, spark and compression.

Will it crank?

A theft light is an aid for nocturnal plunder right?

I used a grounded spark plug to determine spark. I used compression gauge it had 150 psi. I used starting fluid to see if it was fuel related. I have read several discussions onthe passlock system and tried to reset it. I have swapped parts from a running 99 cavalier (tps, map, fuel reg,ign mod and coil packs) the spark is yellow. I have cleaned the fuel soaked brand new plugs but no change. The only way the car will try to start is by holding the throttle wide open. I have shakin wiring harnesses steering wheel my head and still no luck. I am thinking a bad PCM?

Spark at plugs rules out my suggestion about camshaft drive belt as the distributor is usually driven fom the camshaft.

I don't understand "used starting fluid to see if it was fuel related" - can you elaborate?

It doesn't sound like the anti-theft system as that presumably cuts the spark.

Yellow spark is slightly suspicious, a good spark is blue and "fat", so maybe that's it. In the old days that could indicate bad condenser, but with modern computerised systems I don't think there is a condenser that can be replaced readily. Maybe your swap of ign module eliminates this.

If you have fuel, spark etc all I can think of is maybe the spark timing is out, which might indicate bad PCM. Can you swap that from the running 99 cavalier?

a yellow spark may indicate an ignion problem. a blue spark flame is required.

I have heard that Del The Cat is looking for a Cavalier to give to his daughter. Offer it to him at a good price.

Yellow spark is not good. May be a clue in that.

You said coil packs as in more than one. Does this have 1 coil per cylinder and no distributor?

Well i didn't burn it but just because u have 150 psi of compression on 4 cyl. Doesn't mean it is in time. I found it to have a broken timing chain tensioner. After a lot of head scratching and trial and error I tore it down and there it was thanks for the help,Andy.
