Cruise Control 2008 Silverado

Hi folks,

My 2008 Silverado's crew-cab cruise control (OEM) has an annoying habit, some times it comes on and some it doesn't. Lately it mostly does not. I know it might be one of several things, but I need some hints, including phisycal location of the related components. For instance, where does it get the speed reference from? Could that be a dirty contacts on the steering wheel control? etc. Your thoughts please.

Check to make sure there is not a switch on the brake peddle that is stuck or not operating, these are very sensitive...This might help...http://answers.edmunds.com/question-How-I-replace-brake-light-switch-2008-Chevy-Silverado-138867.aspx

As you mentioned there could be several things that could cause this problem. My best suggestion would be to buy a service called ALLDATA (do a goolge search ) basically what it is, is a OEM service manual. it contains schematics and trouble shooting information pertaining to your specific vehicle. This is not an endorsement but I have used it many time to solve problems like yours.
