Industrial Washer Sanatizing Pump.

12/24/2011 11:25 AM

Hi Guys,

Firstly, hope you are all having a great holiday. I am busy designing a industrial conveyor driven washer for one of our hotels to clean the used cutlery, dishes etc. I am having a tough time trying to find a pump or similar that will dose the right amount of sanatizing liquid into the water line and monitor that it is at the right dose. Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated. I hope you are all well. Thank you in advance.

You're asking for two things.

1. A dosing or metering pump and some type of control system.

If your water feed is electronically controlled, just use that signal to control the metering pump.

Monitoring may be more complicated, depending on the chemical make-up of the soap.I'd look for some volumetric solution instead of a sensor/control system.

Thanks Lyn,

That looks like it would do the trick! The hot water will be pumped up to the nozzles at a constant rate. The only problem I have is that the used water flows back into the water tank which will put my dosage out completely. Is there a way to regulate this factoring in the soap that is in the tank, the tank will be drained once a day.

Now you're talking a pH, ORP or conductivity probe in the tank. You want to control the chemistry in the tank, not the feed water.

I'm not a process guy, but this may be simpler than I think. There are some here, somewhere.

Talk to Rosemount or some process control people. This may be a common thing to them.

This is a recirculating system you are using. For the sanitizer to be the same strength all day is a real mathematical challenge. You must start off strong enough, some sanitizer is going to be neutralized, so it must be added as necessary.

I don't know of a probe that measures sanitizer solution strength, maybe there is one out there, but it would take a micropressor to control this system, I expect. That's a lot of stuff just to keep silverware sterilized.

The sanitizer can't be all that expensive, and better safe than sorry. Just inject a proper dose all day and toss the batch at the end of the day. Maybe they can use the old batch to wash out trash cans or something.

I used to maintain a conveyor washer. Have the jets removable for cleaning, even if you have to modify the manifold. Other wise the whole thing has to be dis-assembled to unclog the jets. The filter in these systems lets stuff through that clogs jets.
