Different Pin Out of RJ45 Connector of AB PLC

01/03/2012 4:37 AM

Dears;

In our Corrugator machine, we have 10 Allen Bradley Compact Logic PLCs and Panel View 1000 at 10 different units. Each PLC and PV is connected via an Ethernet Switch and all the switches are then connected with main switch. I have found that the connector of Ethernet cable from PLC/PV to switch is configured as T568-B standard pin outs and the connector of Ethernet cable from sub switch to main switch is configured as T568-A standard pin outs. Please assist if this is ok or all the connectors should be configured a same pin outs?

Just be sure that if you terminate A on one end you do the same at the other. Same if you choose B.

If you terminate A-B then you will have made a cross over cable. Now most Ethernet ports are auto sensing for data flow and sort themselves with a quick handshake, but this has not always been the case and crossovers were required. There is still some legacy kit in service. Read the manuals carefully.
