Wordpress - Getting Started

Hi all

I want to make a new website in Wordpress and all the information I've found so far is complicated. I've worked in HTML and made a few websites, but Wordpress is a whole new ballgame. I'm looking for a simple explanation and guide to get me started.

I want a Website not a Blog and have an existing blank hosted website. I would be happy to use an existing template and/or program.
